Heritage Health Solutions Awarded Accreditation From URAC

Heritage Health Solutions, Inc.(Heritage) today announced that it has been awarded the CORE Accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.–based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.

“Achieving URAC accreditation is validation of our commitment to quality. It clearly demonstrates that we have met the rigorous standards of URAC, an independent organization and national leader in promoting healthcare quality,” said James L. Rosengren, MHA, FACHE, board chair and chief executive officer of Heritage Health Solutions. “This is an important way Heritage can create value for our clients and provide superior patient care and leading edge health care administrative services.”

Heritage, located in Flower Mound, Texas, is one of the nation’s fastest growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, and provides first and emergent fill pharmacy services to one million veterans at more than 600 VA medical clinics across the country. The company also delivers an integrated network of health care services that support the U.S. Marshals National Managed Care Contract.

URAC CORE standards are the foundation of its accreditation programs. The standards address key organizational functions, including: organizational structure; staff qualifications; training and management; oversight of delegated activities; quality management; and consumer protection.

“By applying for and receiving CORE Accreditation, Heritage has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said URAC president and CEO Kylanne Green. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”

URAC’s accreditation process involves a rigorous four phase review, which takes months to complete. After completing a desktop review of Heritage’s policies and procedures, contracts and departmental plans, the accreditation review team conducted an on-site review to verify compliance with the standards. “URAC reviewers conducted audits, analyzed personnel and credentialing files, and reviewed education and quality management programs,” said Aaron Rosengren, quality program manager.
